INTRODUCTION

1.0 DEFINITION OF QUALITY

Quality is important to any organization which produces a product or service for consumption its consumers, though it is difficult to translate future need of the user into measurable characteristics.

Quality can be defined as conformance to requirement in this view, a product is of good quality if it meats its specification.

1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY

Statistical process control is the process off applying statistical techniques in monitoring a production process in order to ensure consistent quality of product (Bon and Banson  2012).

Quality control involves inspecting samples of a product to check for consistent quality according to given parameters although not every product or production process can be inspected at all time but the aim is to design ways to maximum the ability the monitor the quality  of products being produced and eliminate defects One way to ensure a quality product is to build quality into the process, hence statistical quality control.

The major aim of statistical quality control is to keep the production process on check using statistical tools  so that product of good quality control is to find out the range of natural variation in a production process. When a product is not in the range of natural variation then there is a problem with production process  and it will definitely yield poor quality of products. The test to identify the quality of product can be quantitative or qualitative with the use of  statistical tool a better quality assurance of product is assured.
